About Me image
I'm originally from Vancouver and studied guitar and composition at the University of British Columbia.  After working for several years as a guitar teacher and musician, I studied Music Therapy at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge (UK), obtaining an MA in Music Therapy with Distinction.  I worked as a music therapist in London for over five years, supporting children and young people with a variety of needs.

I initially specialised in working with children and adolescents with disabilities and developmental disorders, such as Autism Spectrum Conditions, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and many more. Since moving to Victoria in 2019, I've expanded my client base to include adults with disabilities, as well as seniors with a range of conditions, but in particular Parkinson's disease. I've worked in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, hospices and clients' homes.

My approach to music therapy is very much client-centred, with a balance between planned activities and improvisation, always bearing in mind the established aims of the sessions. I believe the ability to express ourselves and connect with others is paramount to our mental and emotional well-being, and music is an incredibly powerful tool for this. Through music, we can all heal, grow and reach our full potential.

In addition to offering music therapy, I am also pleased to provide classical guitar performances. I've performed in retirement homes, at fundraising events, and at markets. I play a range of repertoire from Renaissance to contemporary, and can provide a programme tailored to your requests. My performances focus on communicating through the music, emphasizing expression and musicality, while not compromising on technique.

When I'm not making music, I'm an author and owner of Melikos Publishing.  I recently self-published my first novel, titled Searching for Persephone.
